Yesterday I turned thirty, amidst the mothers celebrating. A wonderful crew of many of my pals and I turned this into a three-day celebration, kicking off with dinner and ensuing silliness, moving on to going out dancing the next night, and last but not least, an all-day crafting and feasting celebration. Dish after amazing vegan dish poured from the kitchen as we made books, elaborate potato stamps, and etched glasses with silly designs. The menu included tofu chimichangas and fresh guacamole, sticky rice with mango, coconut curry roasted root vegetables, apple cinnamon french toast, banana-nut muffins and chocolate cake with faux cream cheese frosting. As if that weren't enough, there were carob-chip rice crispy treats and chocolate peanut butter cups. Whew! Afterwards, I headed to Bethesda with Elly and her fams to celebrate Mother's Day with her mom, while on the phone with mine.
I have great friends. It never ceases to amaze me what caring and thoughtful people I have in my life, and this is only a small-yet-representative sample given my globetrotting ways.
